What's Going On

Upcoming Events

Links to Calendars for each Session will be posted here as soon as they become available.

The Club has a number of events throughout the year which we use to raise funds, raise awareness about the club and to help advance our members as skaters and as individuals. These events are listed below as they would occur throughout the skating season. Check the Bulletin Board or the Music Room at the Rink for more info on these events as it becomes available.

Bring-a-Friend Day

In the fall of 2006 we held our first Bring-a-Friend Day where skaters of any level can bring a friend or family member to skate with them for the day. Each "friend" skates with their host during the regular CanSkate session. Skaters may bring different friends on each of the two sessions, provided the skater is registered for both Wednesday and Saturday CanSkate. The idea is to provide increased exposure for the club in the community. All that's required is skates, gloves and a CSA approved hockey helmet. We have a small number of helmets at the rink for those who may need to borrow one for the day.

Skate-a-Thon

This event is normally held in conjunction with our CanSkate Fitness Day during the WInter #1 session. Skaters are not required to participate but this is an excellent opportunity for skaters to raise some funds to offset the cost of registration for the Winter #2 session with 1/2 of the funds each skater raises going to the Club, the other half being credited towards the cost of registration for Winter #2.

Annual Ice Show

This season's Ice Show is schduled for Sunday December 19th at 2PM. Plans as to the theme, costumes, music, etc are well underway, stay tuned for details as they become available.

Riverview Spring Invitational

The Spring Invitational is a competition sanctioned by Skate Canada Nova Scotia which draws competitors from all over Nova Scotia and the Maritimes. This year's competition is on April 16th and it is the only competition held in Nova Scotia during the spring season providing an opportunity for skaters to show their programs at the end of the year or to try out new programs that they and their coaches are preparing for the next skating season.

This event is a major fundraiser for the club and draws on every resource the Club can muster to make it the success it has become.
